Sketch... It's been a long time since I posted any illustrations - I haven't stopped doing them on the computer altogether, but have been trying to sketch using pencil and paper a bit instead. I'm not very artistic, but I'm making a little progress over the dozen or so I've done in my pad. Anyway, this is based on the Opera Singer, Anna Netrebko. The nose is wrong, I still find noses really challenging, and shading faces aswell, but it's a lot more enjoyable to sketch than it is to work on a computer, so any advice or criticism from you arty ones would be appreciated.

Untitled Sketch... In a hapless and ultimately doomed attempt to get rid of my negative attitude to my illustrations, I decided it was high time to do one from scratch, not based on any existing photograph or person. So, out came the as yet unused sketching pencils and pad, and along came my inability to do anything remotely artistic, but I based the vector on that anyway. The proportions do seem a bit off, I think I may go back to doing them of actual people, but it was quite an enjoyable experiment...

Always stay in the lines! ...I thought I would do something a bit different tonight, as I can't decide which vector drawing to do next, so I thought a spot of colouring in would be interesting. I have to say, I nearly give up when Ciggie happened to remind me of how technicolor films were, so I figured maybe I could use that as an excuse for the fact its not very life like at all... ...still it was good fun to do. I don't think I have the patience to get really professional results, it must take an eon to make them look as life-like as some people can get them. Anyway, this is Ava Gardner, and you can see the original over at the best place ever to get classic movie pictures, Dr Macro's. (noodlefaceski or floatykatja, please, confirm if this is appropriate use of the apostrophe or not, then I can delete this part of the blog and pretend I'm smart)

your tailors or mine? Yes, I know, it's Christmas so I should be blogging about how much fun it all is, and regaling you all with pictures of my shiny new things, or telling you all about the wondrous quantities of food I have consumed, however I'm lazy blogging instead.  All that will come in due course though, oh yes. Anyway, My most recent picture, I did most of it about a month ago, but only added the finishing touches earlier.  I'm not sure, at one point it was going really well and I thought it might be my best yet, but I actually think they're going down hill a bit.  It's lost a bit of detail in the resizing, but it's lacking something else too.  Maybe I need to get back to my regular muses again. Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
