Disgruntled Commuter

Dazed and Confused

Overheard in the street on the way to the newsagent this morning (nobody ever seems to say anything interesting on the train, I don't know why)

Man: (crossing street to approach woman on mobile phone): Excuse me, do you know what the date is?
Woman on phone: Yes, it's the fifth.
Man: The fifth of?

He must have had himself one hell of a summer holiday ...

...and the year? What year is it?

I'm guessing escaped hospital patient having just woken up from coma.

He was normally dressed though ... and not old enough for it to be dementia ...

Perhaps he is the character from The Time Traveller's Wife. He has to ask people what date it is all the time, and what year...

Boy, Dazed and Confused is right. You know, Overheard in the U.K. is dying for people to send them stuff like this.

And how was I too know she wouldn't tell me the month too? We're not all calendarly aware you know!

My boss is forever asking dopey questions like that, it drives me round the twist.

Tube Dude (5.9.06 15:15)
Maybe he was just checking that she was aware ..

or maybe they're married and he was dropping a hint?

Ian - but he stopped short of asking for the year
Rebecca - the blog comes first, I'm afraid ...
Pete - have you ever wondered why he's your boss and not the other way round?
Tube Dude - you're thinking anniversaries, aren't you? Could be the answer. I'd have sworn they were strangers though. Just chalk it up to another one of those London moments ...

"Just chalk it up to another one of those London moments ... "

So, that's what you call them, London Moments. If I did that I'll have a list as long as the platform at the station I work.

So, now we have, senior moments, blonde moments, and ...London moments...

I think that's what I love ... or hate about London

Maybe I should change the title of the blog to 'London Moments' if I ever completely run out of commuting disgruntlement ...

tubedude (6.9.06 10:51)
with a bit of luck, and I speak from a Transport worker, and a Londoners point of view here, I'm sure 'we' will continue to supply you with loads to stuff to write about

BTW, the word thingy at the bottom, has justed asked me to enter the word DEath - trying to tell me something?????
