Beautiful agony

No not the website showing people's orgasm faces. I'm refering to the last 3 films that have arrived from lovefilm. Mrs Henmderson Presents: A very beautiful semi-factiual account of a widow who decdides to open a threatre. I won't spoil the story but it's touching and has a dame in it and an "it's good to talk" penis. Syriana: stark and slow burning drama about oil proliferation, spies and murder. Apolitical? I'll let you decide. The Contant Gardener never before has a film touched me so deeply. may be due to my current emotional state!? A beautiul love story entiwined in a shocking thriller involving pharmacutical companies. Should have been sponsoired by keenex.

Online DVD rentals a review...

I've recently subscribed to LoveFilm.com and I must say I'm not that amazed by there service.

The idea behind it is sound. You subscribe set up a list of titles you want and wait for them to be sent (currently 2 at a time). You can even prioritise your rentals (well in theory). You receieve your discs watch them and send them back. Then they distribute the next two on your list from there current stock.

The first 2 films receieved were very old. Willow (yes, that one with the guy from Jedi) and Gattaca. Eventhough on my list I had requested loads of more recent DVDs and Blu-rays.

So far I've only received a couple of current films but it's quite good for TV series as they're sent in order which has meant I can finally rewatch Spook series 1 and The Fast Show.

As I mentioned it's not been simple due to 2 discs not arriving (which personally I don't think were ever sent) and having to wait over a week before I could report them as not appearing. Secondly I received Firefly disc 2 only to discover a dirty great foriegn body imbedded in the disc.

I'm going to go with these guys for another month and see if the service improves, if not anyone got any other suggestions?

I'll add some quick reviews of the films I've seen over the last couple of months.

If you'd like a free months rental then register and quote vdjomb@gmail.com as the person who let you know about it. Cos I'll get another free month and so will you.

It's all my fault...

I'm single handedly to blame for Michael Schumacher retiring I hold my hands up.

The reason being was that as a joke my mother bought me a calendar of said person for xmas last year and I joked that "the year I use a Schumacher calendar is the year he retires!"

Need I say more...

Finally I bought it and for a bargain price of…

Nathan Barley DVD £9.99 Virgin Megastore.

fficeffice" />

I loved this series even if it did make me cringe at times. The DVD is totally awesome. The menus are really clever and the bonuses are more than I expected including the Pilot version of the series and loads of stuff to do with TV Go Home.

An amazing DVD for a top series at under £10 a total steal and it comes with a silly book of nonsense and a rather nice looking cardboard box.

Buy it coz it’s well weapon. Roll on The IT Crowd on DVD then my Chris Morris collection will be complete.

Brmm, brmms

So another San Marino GP, and what the hell was the point in it.

Firstly we saw very little other than The Red Baron von Schumacher as the director was obviously Italian. This was most annoying as it could well have been a really interesting race behind Schuey and Alonso.

Button what the hell happened, you managed to drive off with your pump still attached along with your crew who were manning it, ripping your pump off, spraying fuel and having to waste time. This lost him his chance of his first win which could have been possible as Schuey has suddenly lost all his pace he'd started with.

Roll on the next race and can we please have an unbiased director for the next one.

Also Mark interviewed Bernie Eccelstons daughter and wow how fit is she.

OK so it's about time I mentioned the....

Brum, Brums.

So we've had three races of the new F1 season and as per usual the rules have changed some what. Tire changes are back, which means there won't be only 4 cars on the circuit in US. One of the funniest sights of last year without a doubt.

Also the way qualifying is done has changed drematically and as with a few of my F1 fan friends we can't fully understand what the hells going on and why the hell the last ten have to drive around for 20 mins before they've reduced their fuel enough to put in a decent lap time. It makes bloody confusing TV.

There also seems to have been a lot controversy regarding flexible wings. First Ferrari got moaned about, regarding their wobbly rear wing now it looks like Renault have an even wobblier front wing. That's got to explain why the hell the Renault are so much faster than everyone else this year.

Button has started well this year but had dreadful luck yesterday with his engine blowing up about 30 metres from the finishing line, allowing everyone behind him to claim the points. A brilliant qualifying result, which gave him a well deserved Pole but his race was no way up to the standard needed to beat the Renaults, and my god was the race full of insidences. From Montoya spinning on the parade lap, Fisichella stalling on the grid, causing another parade lap, then three retirements before the first lap had been completed.

A quality race just a shame that Button had such a bad race and it's bizzar that the Safety car did more laps than some of the F1 cars.

Away with the...

Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi (Spirited Away) (English Dub coz I was too lazy to read)

So after buying this cheap, and having nothing to watch on Tv I sat down to watch this truely beautiful film. It's by the same guy who did Princess Mononoke and wow is it good. Thankfully not as environmentalist as Mononoke but still has a message in it.

The story starts with a family who are about to move to a new town and stop off, they find a strange tunnel and wander into it much to the little girls disgust and fear. Once through they find an abandoned Theme Park which appears to be totally deserted. The parents then smell food coming from a near by stall and as there is no one around they help themselve. Against the warning of the girl.

I'm not gonna spoil what happens next but the journey goes from light, to dark, to darker and back round. A beautifully told story, that is only matched by the amazing animation. Disney take note your time has come to fuck off unless you're gonna actually produce something decent, and no I don't mean relying on Pixar to make good films for you.

If you've never seen any anime before watch this coz it's a real eye opener.

Has anyone got any other recommendation other than, Ghost in The Shell, Akira, Princess Mononoke, Interstella 5555 (Daft Punk film done to Discovery Album)?
