It seems there's no such thing as a free blog. This one has become unusable of late. Even if you can read it, its been impossible to write anything for days on end. This completely defeats the point of a blog.
So I am moving to a superduper blog that costs money (fortunately not much)
You can find new entries here along with the old ones as I find time to copy them.
The new site has lots of nice features like searching for bands or venues or anythingelse, and I will be linking entries to the related photos. And I'm planning to start a directory of venues with reviews (when I get time).
The 12 Bar is a nice venue, well situated, with lights (although they are a bit high to be perfect).

Mab have been touring in Italy most of this year, so I haven't seen them play since Rome in July. Unless you count the video we did in their garden, I think in September.

Strangely they are playing first at 8pm. Twice in a week I have queued to get into a gig to see the first band on (see Little Fish on Saturday). The place seems to be quite full of Italians (maybe the headliners are Italian as well?). It is also well populated with long term Mab fans who I have not met for a while ("don't think I've seen you since Rome"
.
Plakka were supposed to be on around 9, but the promoter swapped things around (as Plakka had brought the most people). I only just caught the last tube after their set started well after 11.

Family Machine are an Oxford band who invited me to take some pictures of them. Fortunately the lights had returned to something like what one would expect from the Bull and Gate.

A bit of an adventure as the Candy Bar is normally restricted to women, but for this Sunday night gig, men are allowed enrty. This is a good thing; much as I like Vanilla Ride I draw the line at female impersonation.

Voltane's first gig promotion. Xiphon seem to like to mingle with the audience and hang from the ceiling.

Tim Bearder from Radio Oxford's birthday bash. The cellar used to be called the Corn Dolly, I saw the bank of Dresden there in 1979; whilst my memories of the event are not vivid I think the venue is still similar.

Awful lighting - to do the lighting this badly must take some special training.

Third visit to the bullet bar in a week. Lighting is still difficult and the band on late again.
